THE “TECHNICIENNES”, FIRST AMBASSADRESSES OF THE BRAND
Their names were: Cecile Christofini, Suzanne Montenay and Nina Gaucher. Cecile Christofini received a ticket
to Central America in 1946 to spread Lancome’s word and idea of beauty. Suzanne Montenay organized schools
in Greece, Ceylon, Bangkok, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia.
Nina Gaucher took the brand to Moscow. Madeleine Brétillard, another brilliant Lancôme ambassadress became
the Lancôme Institute Director in Paris.
Then as now, Lancôme’s first Ambassadors of the brand were chosen for their love of beauty and excellence, for their expertise and belief in the values of the Lancôme Maison.
They were techniciennes who spent long months traveling around the world to open up beauty counters for the brand.
From the start, Armand believed that:
No matter where they were,
a Lancôme technicienne should know how to do everything:
sell products, pack products, promote Lancôme fragrances, skincare, do make-ups that look fresh in any season, even when temperatures rose over 40°C, answer journalists’ questions.
In essence, not only be Lancôme’s Ambassadresses of French beauty but Ambassadresses to womens’ beauty needs in any part
of the world.”
